A life without love in it is like a heap of cold ashes in a hearth, the fire dead, all warmth and laughter gone, and no more light.

Gosh! I didn't know that.... Thanks
Pretty Please...
Have a great day!

Hectic and fun
... that's how I would describe Saturday. Kenny and I stayed up late Friday night to get the house ready for the Halloween party
. He had been working on the basement this past week or so but it was far from being finished. We decided to decorate the area to have a
spooky underground look to it. Or at least we tried to make it more Halloween-y
.
Kenny's Mom came in the afternoon to show me how to cook
the pork tenderloins that I like so much. It was really sweet of her to share her recipe. Kenny also picked up the food from the catering service, a Filipino establishment called Unimart. I ordered Kare-Kare, Binagoongang Baboy, Chicken Adobo, Chicken BBQ, Seafood Mix, Pancit Palabok, Fresh Lumpia, Banana Turon and Ube Roll. I also got a chocolate cake
with raspberry filling from a gourmet bakery near us called Patty Cakes. The Chicago-style fried rice was from KT Thai and I opted to buy the ham, seafood appetizers and assorted Baklava tray from Sam's Club. We got sodas and some beer and wine for libations
. Although I didn't really do any cooking, it was still a race to get ready in time for the first couple of guests (Trevor and Sue) to arrive.
Trevor is Kenny's co-worker and he's engaged to be married
to Sue in a couple of weeks. They were probably busy with their wedding plans but were nice enough to come to the party. The rest of the guests arrived within the next hour and a half. They were a mix of old and new friends. Geri, In-In and Ryan seemed to have struck a connection with Lisa (my co-worker) and her fiance Armand since they were sort of the "newbies".
The rest of the group pretty much know each other for a long time already or have met before so they were just being their old, silly selves. Most came in their jammies and a few dressed up in costumes. Cristy dressed up as witch
and her son Brandon came in a futuristic cop
outfit. Jonathan and Yili came as Indiana Jones
and a pink cowgirl
respectively. It was a total of 22 guests which wasn't such a bad turn out since a lot of people couldn't make it due to their conflicting work schedules. It was just so much fun
to have people over and I hope our friends had a great time too
. I'm sure there'll be more gatherings in the future and we'll be there as well. Just get those invites in the mail, folks. You can't keep these party animals
away.
I really didn't get good photos
but here are some to share. I'll post more once I've borrowed some from the other guests who were more conscientious in the photo op department.
Here's the link to the rest of the photos from the party:
