A life without love in it is like a heap of cold ashes in a hearth, the fire dead, all warmth and laughter gone, and no more light.

Gosh! I didn't know that.... Thanks
Pretty Please...
Have a great day!

In just a few days, another new year is upon us. For some people, it is a fresh beginning, a chance for redemption for the things that happened or failed to happen in 2005. For some, it's just a continuation of the status quo. It is the time when some people make up their list of resolutions for the new year. By the way, what are resolutions? The dictionary has these following definitions
: 1. the process of resolving something such as a problem or dispute
2. firm decision to do something 3. firmness of mind or purpose.
In the past,
I got into the bandwagon of making my own list, mostly because it was required writing by my English teacher after being back from the school's Christmas break.
The list ran the gamut from studying harder, becoming a better daughter, having a boyfriend or being in a significant relationship to losing some weight. Some eventually made it to the list again year after year
. Some were just dropped as it proved futile to resolve them anyway. As I got older and wiser (perhaps), I have stopped making a list resolutions. Instead, I call it my inventory of goals and plans. They may be short term or long term goals, whatever the case may be and the reasonable timeline they can be achieved. Here's the top 10 in 2006:
1. Reorganize my office and my closets.
I have been very sedentary and indolent over the past few months and I am thriving in the organized clutter right now but I realize that I need things to be more orderly in order to achieve harmony
in my life. What better place to start cleaning up my act than my own personal space.

2. Obtain my U.S. Citizenship. I will be going for my interview and civic test on the third week of February. Hopefully, I can work on getting my US passport right away to achieve goal #3.

3. Visit at least three cities in Europe . Kenny and I are making plans to travel with a few friends to three major destinations in Europe. A long time dream of mine, about to become a reality. I am so looking forward to it.

4. Upgrade my career image. I've been stuck in a rut when it comes to my job / career
. For a long time, my main professional goal is to maintain a steady and viable income to pay the bills and support my moderate lifestyle. I realize there is so much to learn and improve on. It might not have to be in the same profession (Nursing) but I'm thinking more in line of things that really interest and motivate me. I have always had an inclination in business and Mass Media-related careers so maybe I'll look for and sign up for a few classes for the summer. Let's see where it will lead me.

5. Learn more about starting up a home-based business and eventually building one
. I did a lot of eBay-ing last year and it was so successful that I had a taste of what it's like owning my own business. I just love the whole idea of independence and entrepreneurship. Maybe someday, my name will be mention in the same league as Martha Stewart. Hey! I might as well dream big, right?

6. Go back to doing yoga and meditation
. I'd also like to go for outdoor power walks
once the weather is more conducive. Being fit was once a very vital part of my lifestyle. Reconnecting myself with these actvities will surely help bring balance to my life again.

7. Attend my college class reunion
on July. It's been a long time since we've seen each other. There are some people I'm fortunate to keep in contact with but there are a lot more I'd like to reconnect with. It will be interesting to see what has changed since our graduation day
.

8. Have my mother visit us again
. If possible, I'd like my little sister Melisande to come as well. I wish my father is still alive. He really took a liking to living here in the US.

9. Start our own family
. God willing, Kenny and I will be blessed with our first offspring
. I'm sure a lot of people have been waiting for us to procreate.

10. Spend Christmas
in the Philippines. It's been a long time since I spent it with my own kinsfolk so it will be a real treat for me and for them, especially my nephews and nieces.

Well, that's all I could think of for now
. I'm sure a few things might be added and some might slip into the cracks.
There's really no pressure about all this. I have only myself to account to for most of the goals I've set. I might have to rely on others to achieve some of them. I just hope that I'll also be instrumental to people being able to realize their dreams and fulfill their resolutions.
From Our Family to Yours.. Happy New Year
Wish you everything great & beautiful in New Year 2006 !!!
