A life without love in it is like a heap of cold ashes in a hearth, the fire dead, all warmth and laughter gone, and no more light.

Gosh! I didn't know that.... Thanks
Pretty Please...
A recent post of mine was about the emotional, psychological and social metamorphoses I've gone through over the years. This time around, I'd like to delve more into the physical aspects of maturity. I'm sure all of us, at one time, marvelled at our own evolution. I do feel that beauty goes beyond what we see outwardly but for the sake of discussion, let's get into the more superficial part of growing old.
Why do some women get better with age, while some others just end up looking, well, old? Furthermore, when will one's looks peak? Have you ever looked at your old photographs and examined the different variations of your appearance and compared them to your recent images? Maybe you've seen other people's pictures and have the same impressions as well. To demonstrate my point, take a look at these images of a Hollywood personality, Brooke Shields. She was one of the most photographed and admired women in the '80s. Her face graced every magazines and posters and her life was chronicled by the media. Unfortunately, the '90s was not as kind and although she has maintained a relatively visible profile currently, things are definitely not the same as before.

Take a look at Demi Moore, in contrast. She's in her 40s but has the body and attitude that any woman in her 20s envy. Never mind that she has Ashton Kutcher for a husband.

On the other hand, I've seen other women's remarkable physical transition from when they were still in their home country to having already lived a few years in a different place and culture. It can be liken to an ugly duckling turning into a beautiful swan when placed on a different pond. It could be that these changes are bound to occur anyway but I think that a new environment do tend to nurture the inner beauty that was just a late bloomer. It allows the butterfly to come out from its cocoon and spread its wings for the world to admire.
I, for one, can't help but be amazed at how different people do, in fact, look best at different times. What could be accounted for this? I've read that the most important factor of all is genetics; the next is lifestyle, starting with sun exposure. A lot of women who were famous in the '70s and '80s are now victims of the bronze look (think Farrah Fawcett) that was popular in their day - all that sun exposure is just now taking its toll.
Smoking, stress, and weight fluctuations (which tax our skin's elasticity) also impacts negatively on aging. When women go through menopause, it causes skin to become less elastic (thus more wrinkled) and drier.
So, what can you do now to ensure a younger-looking future?
Wear sunscreen! Using at-home products, like antioxidants (such as vitamin C) and retinoids (such as Retin-A) can make a difference - but you must use them daily. And it's good to keep weight fluctuations to a minimum. If you're going to lose a lot of weight, do it gradually and earlier in life, when your skin is more elastic. Diet is also crucial - anything good for the heart (i.e. fresh fruit and vegetables) is good for the skin too, since the heart pumps nutrients to your skin. And, of course, don't smoke
. The puckering causes lines to form around your lips. Here are some beauty secrets from women who have aged like fine wine:
What about plastic surgeries?
I have nothing against it but plastic surgery addicts don't age well because they're always counting on their next procedure to make them happy. Bottomline, it's not really about an age. It's more about the attitude. You peak when you're feeling confident on the inside and looking good on the outside.
What a very nice entry here Rose. OO nga i have seen people who changed a lot physically in time (sino ba naman ang hinde), anyway some may look more mature at their age some are getting old gracefully ika nga. And you are right, i have seen pinays who looks more "classy" or may style na once na maka-abroad or something, maybe bec. they have more money to buy nicer clothes hehe or to go to parlor.
